Press releases > PENSRUS Rocks the AMC Music Festival 2013 to Help Raise Awareness and Funding for Families Suffering From Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC)
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Mar 27, 2013) - PENSRUS once again gets involved to help raise funds for Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) in order to create awareness, promote education, and assist families who are suffering as a result of this very rare congenital disease.
ARTHROGRYPOSIS MULTIPLEX CONGENITA (AMC) is relatively rare, occurring in 1 out of every 3,000 live births. AMC describes the presence of multiple congenital contractures. The word "Arthrogryposis," literally means curved joint (arthro: joint; gryp: curved), which is present at birth ("congenita": congenital). To date, no prenatal diagnostic tools are available to test for the condition.
The AMC Music Festival, an annual event that started in 2011, features a full afternoon of entertainment from local bands and artists such as Robert Mirra, Staten Island Rockers for Relief, Scottish Widows, No More Tears, Maiden NY, Joyous Noise, Atomic Krush, Daphne and the Sock Monkeys, The Kitchen and more. This year, all monies raised will benefit AMCOI (AMCSuport.org) and SHRINER'S HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN in Philadelphia, PA. With hopes to raise at least $10,000 this year, event coordinators are gearing up for the event to be held on June 1, 2013 at Killmeyer's Old Bavaria Inn on Staten Island.
Valerie Pepe, organizer of the annual event, said, "Last year a generous donation, support and monetary contribution from PENSRUS enabled families affected by AMC to attend seminars and training, and also helped those same children to learn how to paint at the annual program 'Painting with Theresa.'"
PENSRUS will be making a similarly generous contribution by gifting branded promotional products with the AMC Music Festival Logo imprinted on them, and happy event goers will receive a tote bag with goodies like event baseball caps, pens, lip balm and can cozies.
"This year we are looking to reach more people and increase the awareness of AMC. I believe that in collaboration with PENSRUS, the goal to reach $10,000 is attainable," said Pepe.
